Telling a secret can change the way the world views us. When a secret gets out it can change a hero to a villain or a villain to a hero. It can make a person want to run and hide or it can make them stand a little bit taller.
Our secrets can make or break us, and that’s why we hold onto them so tight.
Even our characters have secrets. It’s one of the things that makes them real. Discovering, dealing with, or hiding these secrets is often the backbone of a story. However, the big difference between their secrets and ours is that their secrets are public knowledge. Who knows, maybe that’s what drives us to give our characters these secrets and to read books in which the characters have secrets.
Either way, after a lot of time spent trying to unravel the deepest darkest secrets of the three main characters of my NaNoWriMo novel today I think I finally hit pay dirt, and here they are...
