Aaron's update

Well, it’s 8 days into NaNoWriMo, and so far I have successfully avoided posting anything about my progress on here. Lets hear it for avoidance 101.

Anyway, I figured that I’d eventually have to mention it, and I had a few free minutes so I thought now was a good a time as any.

So far it’s been going pretty well. I’ve been trying to do somewhere between 1,700 and 2,000 words a day, and more or less I’ve been meeting that quota so far. This may seem like a snail’s pace to some of you, but I’ve found that if I just sit down and crank out 10K then the next day I realize that I’ve already used up all of my ideas for that day as well. Plus I like consistency. I am definitely a tortoise type of girl, but that’s fine by me, turtles can be vicious little buggers.

Moving on, this year I’ve been hearing a lot about people’s plots running out of steam by the time they hit 30K, so this year I’m trying to take precautions to insure that this doesn’t happen to me. However, the side effect is that every time someone walks into my room they tend to stare at my wall and go “what the…” This reaction used to leave me scratching my head, but then I realized that all of the plot points tacked up over my bed only looked normal to me. Other than my “novel wall” I’ve also been making outlines of each of my chapters before I write them so I know all of the points that I need to hit. So far my devious plan seems to be working. My plot has been holding up pretty well, and I have high hopes that I’ll have enough to make it to 50K.

Other than all of that I don’t know what else to say about NaNoWriMo other than “keep it up” to everyone who’s doing it.

NaNoWriMo Updates!

It's been a while since I've done any posts, so here I am! It's been a crazy few weeks, first having to live off of liquids for a day and a half before my colonoscopy on the 28th, (which went fine by the way, the prep was the worst part!), catching up with homework, continung with more homework, and now, NaNoWriMo. I'll admit, I was pretty nervous a few days before November 1st, but as soon as that day came, I surprised even myself by surpassing NaNo's daily wordcount goal of 1,667 words! Man, was I stoked! As soon as I saw that I had actually achieved, let alone surpassed, that goal I was shocked, but also ecstatic! I felt like if I could do that, then I could do anything! I was on top of the world!
And then night fell...
And the old doubts started to creep in...

But then Aaron, wonderful girl that she is, talked me off the ledge with a heartfelt pep talk consisting of, "no way in HELL am I letting you quit!" (Or switch stories, whih is what I felt like doing at the time), so instead of giving into the urge to trash all of the progress I made that day, I stuck with it, so thanks a ton, Aaron! Your a lifesaver! :)

NaNoWriMo Day 2: That day was a little harder, where I almost let exhaustion win over wordcount, but then I decided to just write in bed. I didn't get as far as I had the first day, but at least I ended up writing half a page (only 141 words), it was better then nothing, right? Right?! :P

NaNoWriMo Day 3: That day went a bit better, I pressed through my exhaustion and my sleep-filled brain and managaged to write 757 words, woo! :)

How is everyone else doing with thier word counts?

The Angel Experiment: Stats

I got this idea from Frankie at Frankie Writes, where she posts updates (aka stats) of her current WIP and today, I thought I'd do the same, to not only keep track of my progress, but also to give you, dear readers, an inside look at my WIP, "The Angel Experiment", enjoy:

Chapters: 0 (This is probably because I keep skipping around and writing different scenes whenver I get inspired, but soon a chapter shall be completed, I promise)
Page Count: 4
Word Count: 1,100

So...maybe that's not GREAT, but it's not horrible either. It's all about progress at this point people (at least for me, since I suffer from CP-Chrinic Procrastination), it's all about the progress. :)
